the harbor

During our Fall Break, we spent a beautiful sunny day at the Lindon Harbor. We like to go out there and take the long board and scooters. There is a cool path that goes right along the lake. Elijah threw rocks into the lake for literally a 1/2 hour. They were huge rocks, too. We packed our famous lunches and snacked all day. I've found a way to use the long board and stroller at the same time. We can now ride our wheels anywhere and Elijah just sits in the stroller. It works together perfectly while the kids ride their scooters. I wish I would have done this earlier this summer.

Something I've been loving to do lately, is to shoot the same shot but with different manual settings. I'm obsessed with the Fall Skies lately.
overexposed and underexposed these are all STOC (straight out of the camera)

After the harbor, we spent our evening at the park with cousins.

Brown Eyed Kids / Utah County Family Photographer

I had a session with this beautiful family. I have known them for a couple of years now. The twins were in my 2nd grade class my first year of teaching. Yes they are identical and they even had the same haircut back then. The only way I could tell them apart was by a certain birthmark. I can hardly believe they are now in 6th grade. Now I have their next cutie in my class and she is adorable. I have to admit I was nervous to take pictures for them. I'm ALWAYS nervous. We planned to meet at a certain time but earlier in the day, while mom was away, the two boys decided to venture off into the neighborhood to explore. Cops and neighbors were out looking for them when they were sighted in a field just walking and holding hands. Let's just say they got to take their first (and hopefully last) big ride in a police car. It was an eventful afternoon and they still all manage to be happy and bright. I couldn't (and still can't) get over how beautiful this family is.

I also really loved the practice. These kind of experiences teach me so much about what to do and what not to do. I also learn about what kind of photographer I want to be and what kind of images I want to get out of the camera. I learn SOOO much with each session. KEEP THEM COMING. The weather is going to get worse so I hope I can do a couple of more families before the end of the year.
I also still have a couple more family sessions to post. Sorry to those who are waiting. They are coming soon. :)

The First One

Our little Elijah was starting to go fuzzy on us. His hair was poofing out on us and all different lengths. It was sad to see him get his first buzz, but I think he was happier when it was gone (sweatiness and all).
It made him grow up too fast all in about five minutes. :(

He has no idea what is about to happen...

Questions and Thoughts

My kids are totally in the funniest stages. Everyday is something new with their limited vocabulary and sentence structures. Sitani asks the craziest questions from how the traffic lights work to how grass grows. Some of his questions I don't know how to answer. Thank goodness for google. :)

Here are some comments that I wrote down.

Marley: Princesses don't pick their noses.

Sitani: Dad, when I grow up, what kind of car am I gonna drive? hmmmm

Sitani: Daddy looks funny because he is losing weight.

Marley: Mom, when I grow up and when I have a baby, I'm not gonna throw up on my baby.

Sitani: While watching a commercial... Mom, we should buy Oxyclean so that you can be clean.

Sitani: My owie is angry

Sitani: (while wanting to go somewhere) Mom, the road likes it when we drive on it.

Sitani: I'm eating healthy each day but I'm still not growing bigger as Nata. (his older cousin)

Marley: (while driving as a family past a field of horses) Mommy, the horses taste yummy?
Haini has convinced them that we eat horse meat. rrrrrrr

Lil Mehani

This little one has been sick for the past week. She has lost some weight and isn't her usual smiley self. This was the first time she smiled all day.

Childhood

"Childhood is measured out by sounds and smells and sight, before the dark hour of reason grows." John Betjeman

It's nearly the middle of October and today we spent a beautiful day outside in hot and sunny weather. I am refusing to let summer die down YET. I am still stuck on the sunny halos shining over my kids hair and the endless nights at the park. In a way, I'm glad I don't have a home and a yard all to myself. It forces me out, making it a day of fun... scooters, skateboards, skates, water fights, Capri Suns, dirty feet, books on a blanket, soccer games with Daddy, and good conversations... the list could go on and on. These are the moments that I want never to end. I don't want my babies to grow up and have to face life. Their childhood keeps ME feeling young.

Here are some catch ups from our beautiful summer days.
Every day is an adventure never to be lived again.
